Activities SummaryThe programs of this conference were opportunities for Filipinas to share their own stories of challenges and successes---how they achieved self-realization, how they came into leadership, and what inner resources they have discovered and developed to get where they are today. There was material on issues and raising socio-political, personal and cultural awareness. Part of the conference programs were journalists, writers and publishers, film makers, artists, poets, academe, students, educators business professionals and entrepreneurs, medical professionals, diplomats, and activists. There were two days of panel speakers, workshops and open forums. We gave out a directory of Filipino-American women and we also had exhibitors and networking activities. On the weekend of the conference, June 3-5, 2005, the Philippine Independence Day Celebration (organized by staff of the Philippine Consulate of New York City) also took place on Sunday. So New York City was a bustling a center for Filipino Americans of the East Coast that weekend. People who attended the conference met with dynamic Filipinas from all over!
